But in many ways, we have failed in the attempt to do more than just Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. Yes, it is fairly easy to set forth a test showing that at least the basic minimums have been met. Who has not set through a class where questions are not asked, just rote memorization for passing information on from one generation to another. Not looking to expand upon what others have discovered. or even express questions that perhaps put certain beliefs to a different test than what is normally given to prove a certain outlook. There truly are many ideas that have been proven in so many ways that no other opinion can be brought into play. But there are also even more ideas that have no such set boundaries, expanding mankind's horizons can not be accomplished if we only work toward the minimum necessary for educating each successive generation, without learning how to instill wonder and the need for understanding that so many of us lose after graduation.
