Global Warming and Climate Change} Why is having 25% more cloud cover so important?
During the last 3,000,000 Years of the planet's life cycle, the change in planet's ability to self regulate it climate has been seriously undermined! Do to the plant life limitions, caused by lost of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This slow reduction in the availability of the most important of gases in the atmosphere. Was the first step, to the creation of semi-arid land around the planet, where ever rainfall was one of the contributing factors for plant stress. When stress of water shortage, was combined with the plant's need to increase the opening sizes of it stomata's, because of lowing level's of carbon dioxide in the air the plants used. Then plant life suffered, and slowly a drought cycle was started. Less plant life, meant less water in the surrounding atmosphere, which then lead's to less cloud cover. Meaning more direct sunlight hitting the surface of the planet, that no longer had enought plant life to convert the sun energy to growth, instead of simply heating up the barren ground. This type of cycle, once started is in some way's self perpetuating. Thankfully, around 71% of the planet is covered by water, the warming of the water of the planet help's to limit the creation of these cloudless areas. However, the loss of even a little of the normal cloud cover of a planet, can increase the overall temperture, by decreasing how much of the sun's ray's are no longer radiated, back into space. Cloud cover also helps maintain a more uniform surface temperture, by helping to keep the heat than has reached the surface of the planet, from excaping at night. Complex interaction, however desert and semi-arid area's with minimum plant growth alway's increase surface tempertures in tropical and temperate area's of a planet. This does not seem to be the case in polar area's, possible due to the angle of the ray's hitting the surface, and or, because of the reflective effect of the color's of snow and ice! Anything that we can do to increase cloud cover over the planet, will in time help in moderating surface extreme's. Meaning more rainfall overall but less damaging weather event's!
