Global Warming and Climate Change} How best to convince, people and then scientist's?

Or is this putting the cart before the horse? No, I don't think so, It is almost impossible to change people's opinion's once they have made up their minds to go in one direction. And scientists are even harder than most, especially if they have made any statement's about a topic! My point of view is that really no scientist has made any statement's one way or the other about the planet running out of carbon that is necessary for all life on the planet! And if we were talking about an asteroid, that some astronomer has just seen that was 5 years out, but had a chance of hitting the planet, we would say, how lucky we were to have 5 full years to find a solution. But if that same astronomer, only gave us 6 months, we would say, why did you not see it sooner, not realizing how large space is, the average person would feel betrayed somehow. Without reason in my opinion! It is the same with carbon sequestration, in my way of thinking, any scientist will tell you that the chances of us finding ourselves on the planet at just this time when an intelligent life form can finally make a difference in the next few centuries with the length of time that has gone before, (meaning billion of years of life on this planet, and somehow we find ourselves to be the only chance the planet has of preserving that very life and our own, the odds of that happening would make winning any "mega-billion lotto game" look like a walk in the park!) Most people would simply not even question if the planet was running out of carbon, and why should they, you ever go onto a piece of land that hasn't been tended for a few years, and see how plant life has taken over? What part of that scenario would lead you into thinking that the planet was in trouble? No one should feel that they should have seen this coming, that is not the way scientists are trained to think.  But hopefully, people will start looking, but science is slow to change and will need to first find the necessary funding before anything can be started, all of this takes time.     "Life cycle of a planet by Daniel James Kadavy" Is only a short perhaps poorly written paper that every single person on the planet should read, not because of how well it is written, but because of what it explains, how any planet in the whole universe will sooner or later also face. It may not be what the Earth is facing now, where the loss of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, first causeing the planet to enter into a period of glaciation and interglacial periods, then increasing arid and semi-arid areas around the planet so that carbon being stored in those areas both in the plant life and stored in the soils would now become available for plant life in areas that receive enough rainfall so plant life is not as stressed as in those areas that were just receiving the minimum amounts of rainfall. This action that increased the arid and semi-arid of the planet now allowed unprotected soils to be hit by sunlight where instead of being converted into energy for plant life turns into heat! Increasing temperature extremes in these newly made areas, was one way that extreme weather on the planet became more commonplace. The accompanying loss of cloud cover in these areas also allowed more sunlight to hit the ground and less reflection of sunlight back into space.
Nothing that happens on a planet that can support life, and in doing so every so slowly changes the make-up of its atmosphere, happens quickly, it is a very slow process that allows plant life to have the necessary time to adapt to these changes. But this also means that past plant life can no longer exist in future times. Now, will everyone on the planet read a paper that explains what our planet is going through no matter how it will effort them? NO, THEY WILL NOT, and for many reasons, first and foremost is the life that they are living, simply is what takes their attention! The second reason, is how does it affect me now, it is not like a hurricane warning, fire, or even an asteroid hit in a few years, What the planet is facing in terms of extreme weather and rising sea levels, is not something most people are directly aware of or affected by. So they see no direct imminent threat to their way of life. Governments however must look somewhat more long-term and the decisions that make will always take into consideration who should profit from these necessary changes, and that will not be the common man! While using the "plan" will repair the planet, will improve the common man's lifestyle, and will cost nothing in the long run! Dan
