Global Warming and Climate Change} I have just read where high in the Himayalan mountains some of the local people are already making ice for use later!
The first mounds of ice were started back in 2013 when they realized that the higher glaciers were not melting until, too late for spring planting, so by making these ice mounds lower down the valley they would melt sooner and spring planting would have the necessary irrigation water when needed. very smart! From having just one in 2013 to, 29 this last winter and many times much more water is being stored as ice. This is being done locally with only simple plumbing required. I never realized that this was being done, when I started talking about rebuilding glaciers so that people who relied upon glaciers for both drinking and farming downstream, I did not think about the timing of glaciers melting as being of importance, it just goes to show me how little I know sometimes! But installing dams downstream of glaciers would, of course, solve both problems more dependably, but for localized needs, this seems to work well with much less cost upfront. Most of what I put forth as to how to repair the planet is already being done on a small scale in many parts of the planet. From farming by using water out of the great rivers of the planet, but many others are doing just the opposite by farmers in America taking out trees in their fields so that they have that much more land for their crops to plant and burning the trees, to destroying Forrest all over the planet, for putting those lands to other uses. So in small ways where people do not have to get governmental approval for what they need to do to produce food for themselves and others, people are going in the right direction we just need to up that by about 20,000,000 times, and in the right places! I am always hoping that what needs to be done can be done locally all over the "planet" because there are arid and semi-arid areas all over the planet. But some places like the great deserts need to have a massive response in places where most people have never even looked at as somewhere they would ever what to visit, let alone live and work there. of working high up in the mountains during winter making ice and snow out of the captured excess water flow, from other times of the years. Many of the ski resorts have been doing, just that, for many decades. Just not as high up as we will be needed to do, or with as much water being moved, it really is all just a matter of scale.
