Global Warming and Climate Change} So what is mankinds dilemma, in relation to Global Warming
Are we the devil, who wantonly cares nothing about the planet, but only of what we can take from it? Or are we the only possible savior of an otherwise doomed ecological system that will finally run out of carbon in a form that plant life can use? Looking at the planet from an outsider's point of view, a good case could be made for either one. They would see plastic pollution in the oceans of the planet, killing all types of sea life, they would see over-harvesting of sea life. they would see many things that would tell them that we are not careful with all of the resources the planet has. But if they looked deeper and looked at life on this planet, the first thing that would jump out at them is how little carbon dioxide that there is in the atmosphere, only .04 of a percent, the gas Argon is .94 of a percent that is 23 times as much of the rare gas Argon, then the life-giving gas of Carbon Dioxide. How could plant life survive on such a low amount? The easy answer is evolution, it has by necessary chosen only those plants that can survive on very low amounts of carbon dioxide, all of the rest of the plants from the start of life on this planet some 3 billion-plus years ago to only a few million years ago went extinct one by one as they could no longer survive as the carbon dioxide levels kept dropping! The harder answer is the loss of plant habitat, for as carbon dioxide levels drop in the atmosphere, most types of plants need to increase the size of the area on itself where carbon dioxide is gathered in doing so it also allows more of the interior moisture of the plant to escape, which means that the plant requirement for moisture has to increase to compensate for the lost! This limits the areas of the planet where these types of plants can now grow, again evolution steps in and newer types of plants are starting to appear that have solved both the loss of moisture, in gathering the lower carbon dioxide levels, and can also survive on less carbon dioxide than the older types of plants. However, there is a trade-off with the newer types of plants, since their respiration is so much lower than the previous plant life, the lower rates of respiration also reduces the moisture amount in the atmosphere, which makes fewer clouds and therefore less rainfall, meaning an even dryer climate than before. Life is so inter-related, that it could almost be considered a domino effect. So right now in time, mankind could be considered overall as a devil, By its lack of judgemental behaviors such as pollution in the oceans and lack of using preventative measures in soil run-off. But in time will need to become the savior, for not just the planet's sake but for mankind as well!
