219 Global Warming and Climate Change} We only talk about greenhouse gases changing sunlight to heat and as the only source of global warming, why?
One of the greatest causes of sunlight being converted into heat is the bare soils of arid and semi-arid areas of this planet! The heating of these soils is not the only problem that deserts poses. The rapid lost of much of this heat at night creates large temperature extremes in the atmosphere, that produces more chances of severe weather far away from the original source, for as the heated air of the daylight hours rises into the atmosphere, it comes into contact with the prevailing winds, that in a 12-hour span can move this heated air hundreds of miles! The cooler, heavier air of night will also cause, higher warm air, to cool off and sink, causing downdrafts that may play another role in high and low pressures being formed, thereby increasing winds in several different elevations traveling even in different directions! These wind directional changes are one of the factors of why so many storms start over the warm waters just off of the west coast of northern Africa, leading to the Central and Northern America's. With-out temperature extremes from all of the deserts and semi-arid areas of the planet, the occurrences of severe weather will be greatly diminished. The only way to accomplish this is by replanting these areas with ground cover that with the increased availability of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, due to mankind's unintended production of, can now be done. With-out the necessary water for such a massive undertaking again we would be stymied, but low and behold, there are billions of gallons of freshwater entering the oceans and seas of this planet every single day! And this water is filled with sediment, nitrogen fertilizer, and pollution that should never be allowed to enter into the seas and oceans of this planet, but with just minimal clean-up will work wonders on replanting these areas. So much of life on this planet is at a point where repairing the planet now by the replanting of arid and semi-arid areas is not only possible but profitable! What would happen if mankind puts off replanting these areas for 100 years, is very hard to say, technology advances may make it easier, or perhaps there would simply be less of everything we would need, to achieve such a massive endeavor. Right now, there is available manpower, water, enough carbon dioxide in the atmosphere for the increased plant life, and many people that may not understand that we need to repair this planet in one way, but they do know that something has to be done. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
