277 Global Warming and Climate Change} Why do we have so many ways of talking, that only make us think we understand each other?

When in the long run, nothing could be farther from the truth. I drove 1300 miles to a wedding last month, that had the potential of being a way for covid-19 to be spread around, luckily none of the hundred or so people that we came in contact with, reported any such misfortune. Why did my wife and I go, when both of us have been very careful about keeping minimum contact with others since the start? That has to do with family responsibility, and most people going were between 20 and 65, fairly healthy, and had not known anyone that had covid-19 in the last month. Still, it was not the best decision, thankfully it turned out well, but conversations that were made did not always turn out as well. There were people from 10 different States there and many were from the Southern States, where simple things such as sarcasm, were quite different and many times not always understood to be sarcasm, and even if someone realized that it was sarcasm, there understanding of what had really been said did not always turn out correct. One such conversation ended up having ramifications that could have turned very ugly, have we all not made lots of phone calls to clarify the true nature of the conversation! But we do this so much in our life, and if the ones that we talked to does not understand what we think that we were trying to say, it is not our fault, but their's. So many times this misunderstanding has lead to long-term problems. Then we do the same thing, in our dealing between occupations, the use of letter abbreviations, unknown and unusual terms, all are used to convey that they are different and therefore, better, smarter, not as rural as those that they are talking to. How much is done on purpose and how much is done by accident, not for me to try and figure out, I have always been poor at understanding this type of behavior, but have been accused of doing it a lot myself. These last 4 years have underscored these differences by several factors, making certain points of view off the table, if there is to be any peace during the holidays! The question is then, how do we go forth? When almost every issue, is so strongly divided, and Global Warming and Climate Change are at the top of the list, and neither side even understands the true issue! My hope is that no matter what side you are on, there are so many benefits to doing the "plan" Cleaner Oceans, resolving the refugee problem, increasing food production around the whole Planet, maintaining water flows from glaciers, reducing flooding events, is enough to make most people say why not if done right it will almost cost nothing in the beginning and will present the world with many more people in the middle class who will want what they can now afford to buy!
