CCLXXXVII Global Warming and Climate Change} Yesterday, I explained that it did not matter what an individual's stand was on global warming!

The "plan" would benefit all of mankind, in some way or other with minimal investment, paying for itself many times over. So how would it be presented to the world? The post itself is only several hundred words long, but does not go into any detail on the plan itself. I assume a good writer could break the "plan down into 20,000 words or so for the general population to read to get all of the big points in. Then we would need to explain in much greater detail to those of us who would be putting the plan into action, only by knowing the full reason why, could these people understand for instance, why alfalfa is a much more important way of using the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere then trees would be! Why dam's collecting waters straight from melting glaciers would be used not just to prevent downstream flooding but also to re-build those same glaciers each winter. Those working in Antarctica to store much greater amounts of ice will need to understand that the farther inland that ice is taken, especially over higher elevations so that the resulting glaciers will not be feeding that ice back to the ocean but deeper into the interior of the continent, a much longer and more difficult job indeed! The question that I would be interested in, is do we explain why this is the only way that will also re-start some of the lost temperature-regulating ability that has been lost due to the sequestration of carbon over the lifetime of carbon-based life on the planet, which once fixed will allow a greater concentration of all types of greenhouse gases to be present in the atmosphere with less extreme temperature and therefore less extreme weather to occur! Some time in the future this will need to be addressed, and while there should not be any backlash to scientists for not understanding the problem, to begin with, but we know that many people will find this a great way to undermine future scientific findings for others personal gains! However, the consequences if and perhaps when this fact gets out, any cover-up of not telling the world about carbon loss due to carbon sequestration, in the beginning, could be worst than telling everyone up-front. There would still be many in the beginning who would still argue for their point of view which would help in diffusing and drawing attention to all of the differing points of views, not just that scientists missed something, no matter how important. Hopefully, this would help in directing scientists in a more concentrated effort in taking all of the knowledge that that is discovered and putting this knowledge to a more comprehensive understanding of how much one aspect of life helps determines and interweaves with other aspects of both the planet and other life! CCLXXIV Global Warming and Climate Change} Let's talk more, about the 50,000 gigatonnes of available carbon, that is left for all life on the planet!

First, how do scientist's come up with around 50,000 gigatonnes of available carbon left on the planet? Some of the amounts can be directly measured, how much there is in the atmosphere is one of the most researched numbers on the planet! That figure of 415 parts per million equals around 800 gigatonnes of carbon, in the form of carbon dioxide. 560 gigatonnes in plant and animal life are based on both satellite images for how much plant life is on the planet during the year and measurements that were taken by hundreds of people every year all around the planet. How much soil carbon, is taken by averaging soil carbon from all over the globe this amount is said to be 1,500 gigatonnes.
