V is for verifying, those facts that tell whether or not, this planet is running out of available carbon in the form of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere?

     Facts; There are approximately 175,000,000 gigatonnes of carbon suspended in the atmosphere of the planet Venus, which is around .81% of the size of the Earth.                                                                                Fact: There are now only around 800 gigatonnes of carbon suspended in the Earth's atmosphere and that includes around 300 gigatonnes of carbon that mankind has added in the last 100 years.                                       Fact; There are over 100,000,000 gigatonnes of carbon sequestrated in rocks and buried deep underground on this planet, removed from easily being used for new life! (I have a much larger number that  I feel would more closely fall in line with the carbon that we find on Venus which would be more like 200,000,000 gigatonnes, doubling what is estimated to have been sequestered, over the last 3 billion years.)       Fact; The ice-ages that started around 2.5 million years on this planet have cycles that we have named, glaciation periods and inter-glaciation periods. Inter-glaciation periods are normally only in the range of 10,000 years and yet the planet is now around 13,000 years into the latest time frame.                                         Fact; Nature, it is estimated to sequestrate around 10 gigatonnes of carbon each year, both by erosion and the death and burial of carbon-based life, year in and year out. Tectonic plate movement returns around 3 gigatonnes of this once sequestrated carbon back into the atmosphere, on average each and every year, for a net loss of around 7 gigatonnes per year! Are there times that more carbon is returned without mankind's intervention? Yes, there are, these numbers are just the best estimates that our scientists can give us with the knowledge that we have accumulated over the short period of time that we have been looking!                           Fact; The energy that the Earth receives from the sun is slowly increasing over time, but very slowly only about 1% every 100 million years. yet that means that since life first started on the planet until now that equates to between 30 - 40% more energy is reaching the planet! This energy can be used for plant life, or to warm the planet, or can be radiated back out into space.                                                                                          More Facts on the next post.
