471 Quora again has not allowed me to post on their site most of my short posts. Declined-declined-declined, not sure what their reasoning is?
It is always the guardians of knowledge who would direct what type of information is allowed for widespread dissemination. Knowledge has always given money and power to those who yield it, not necessarily discover it. How many of the discoveries of the past have been withheld from the population deemed unable to understand? Many times such discoveries have been brought to people's attention as funny anecdotes, not to be taken too seriously or with any importance. This has been done extensively concerning past civilizations and their wonderous ways of life that they held. Almost always being disenfranchised by saying that they rivaled in human sacrifice, and or cannibalism. The media does this almost daily by talking about how interesting someone is that is held in high regard and in the same breath saying "juicy gossip" about them.
The gaps between rich and poor, young and old, plain and beautiful, religious and those feigning religion, and so many other ways that we put everyone in stereotypes and boxes have gotten only bigger over time. We talk about India's caste system as if the rest of the world does not do the same thing. Knowledge must be made available to everyone, yet we limit that ability by allowing proven falsehoods to be disseminated on just about every media platform. How do we stop that without destroying so many of the fiction that we use to cause us to believe in the impossibilities that life holds? From as simple as Santa Claus and the tooth fairy, to superheroes and villains that gives us ways of escape from the ordinary. And without these wonders, how else can we dream of making the impossibilities into realities?
Is collecting all of the freshwaters of the Earth before it is allowed to run into the seas and oceans of the planet, an impossibility, no it simply has never been done on such a grand scale. Moving water from one place to another because of need has always returned benefits greater than cost. Yet who out there has envisioned such a plan for the planet? (Perhaps many but I haven't heard of them.) We have moved water from one place to another for thousands of years, yet only tapping into a tiny bit of the potential of what freshwater can benefit the whole planet, not just Mankind.
When talking about immigration and refugees we always talk about finding places that are willing to take in one family here and another there, not about creating whole cities that will serve as completely new possibilities for them to be in charge of their own destiny, while solving many of humanities greatest needs!
80,000,000 people that is the number that is talked about when we begin the task of reducing individuals into non-entities, how can we envision numbers of this magnitude without tunning out? Yet we attempt to feed, house, cloth, and teach them all. Plus there are giant slums all over the world, that are limited in their options for those living there. People without viable options will do what they need to survive! Manpower is not the problem, getting rid of unnecessary regulations is! Freedom of movement, and freedom of education, these should be one of the basic rights for everyone. The tremendous needs that saving the planet entails will give so many this new opportunity that has never existed before.
Life cycle of a planet explains, why "The Earth" is simply following and perhaps leading what every habitat planet in the universe will sooner or later face, the ultimate challenge for survival that only a thinking and acting species on that planet can prevent! We are not simply just another species on an evolutionary path, we, it turns out being, are the necessary adaptation that the planet in some mysterious way knew had to happen! There were many other attempts at extending carbon-based life on the planet, but none could take sequestrated carbon and re-introduce it back into a dying carbon cycle in the quantity needed as plate tectonics had helped do in past ages!
Call, text, post, whatever anyone can do to get others to begin the most important conversation mankind can ever start, Humanity is not only what is at stake, it is whether or not Earth will continue or fade away and become just another giant frozen rock circling a small star in another dead solar system!
