Life Cycle of a Planet

I started studying why Earth was not already well into another ice age when I was around 8 years old! Every prior interglacial period had lasted only around 10,000 years on average, yet Earth was now several thousand years past that timeframe! To me, our planet's past events were of the utmost importance. Granted, back in 1964, living on a farm 8 miles North of Lincoln, Nebraska, my ability to get to a modern library was almost non-existent. But when our small two-room schoolhouse closed up between my 6th and 7th grade, and Waverly, Nebraska, suddenly became my new school with a much bigger library than I had ever had access to.  But my graduation in 1975, and enrolling in the University of Nebraska, With ''Love Library'' right on campus, and even more importantly, there was a computer on campus that had just been made available that had direct access to several other universities, in what I believe was just about the first inter-collegiate computer terminals! 1) What elements were available when each of the planets and the Sun came together? Around 75% hydrogen, around 22% helium, and the last 3% is every other known element! 2) How old are the planets?      Part of the reason is that when everyone on the planet wakes up every morning, what do they see? Pretty much exactly what they expect to see!  Even weather personalities are getting better at getting the weather fairly accurately. Scientists now can tell us what life was like for much of the time that carbon-based life has been on the planet, even down to how long ago life started, around 3,500,000,000 years ago (3.5 billion years). That is indeed a really fantastic ability, that took hundreds of years and thousands of scientists to put all of that information together!       Scientists have unveiled so many mysteries, that it seems that it will only be a matter of time before Earth's past will be fully understood! We were not even on the planet until perhaps a few hundred thousand years ago and unable to affect the planet's climate until we were forced to become an agricultural-based society only a little more than 10,000 years ago!          Why have we been teaching this to our children?      Why did I wait so long? Since all of the research has already been done by others, and it was so well documented that others would surely do exactly the same thing that I did, and with the scientific community behind them, why would they need my input! I was not trying to figure out Global Warming and Climate Change, I was just trying to find out why Earth was not around 3,500 years into another ice-age!       Back in grade school in a little two-room school house in Davey, Nebraska. She was telling us that Earth would go into an ice-age and then out of an ice-age into what was called an inter-glacial period! She had graphs showing that while ice ages themselves keep getting longer and longer over the 2.5 million years that Earth had them, the inter-glacial period would remain at around 10,000 years long!  Let's begin with, why that question is so universal and has caused so much hate, bigotry, and human suffering.  There are three main lines involved in this question. The personal, communal, and governmental or religious ideology can tie people together worldwide! The problem comes when competing ideologies create divisions and even hate. In some ways, the same can be said of political beliefs! Right now we are talking about WHY WE ARE HERE as a species, not as a religious, political, or physiological concept! Scientists see evolution or adaptation as random changes that allow future offspring a better chance of continuation! But how can that be? Any random change will never be able to influence anyone but their own offspring. Even if the random change is beneficial, it could never be passed on to a whole species even in ten thousand generations. and we are not talking about a single beneficial change, but thousands of necessary changes that were needed to happen in the 200,00...

It took almost 50 years for scientists to accept plate tectonics as fact with all of the evidence that is spread around the planet!!! Do you know one of the biggest reasons for such understanding to take place? Because the previous generation of scientists had to die off. Once something is learned, especially in a higher educational place of learning people have all invested their time, money, and the standing that they receive, which all convey prestige for the individuals involved!!! The same can be seen going back in time, from the washing of hands to rid a doctor of bacterial organisms before delivering a baby, to understanding evolution, only through time and the incoming of new generations of people in professional capacities, do new ideas become accepted!!! What does that say about how we live? It means that we have very little say in most aspects of our lives if we wish to live in a house, we must pay for that privilege with taxes, energy, insurance, maintenance, and keeping the standards that each place puts upon the owners, cutting grass, moving snow, and so many other requirements to fall within acceptable parameters of society! We must obey laws we may disagree with, nor have any input in their adoption or application! While there are many different arrangements of governments around the world, even the ones that are voted in or out of power by the masses are never truly fair in explaining to their constituents what they are going to attempt to do if elected! Yet this is the world we live in while we attempt to understand what 3.5 billion years of carbon sequestration have forced our planet to go through, including almost every single extinction event that has occurred in the history of our planet!  So the problem that we face is...

     The first reason is cost! Immediately, the cost of this work will first go up by the power of 10, and then that number will increase every year of a possible 60-year project. That would in reality be a never-ending project! Therefore, with a never-ending cost!      Then, there will never be a corporation that would allow an untrained workforce with families in tow access to such a project! 6-foot fencing would become mandatory, with guards stationed every half mile being paid for doing no work! Plus, the more regulation that this project would have would, of course, result in a much higher cost, all to the financial benefit of the corporation!       Instead of using a workforce of refugees, directly benefitting from gaining title to a 20-acre farm site with a one-acre pond, and a house in the nearest city! All of the corporation's workforce would be working at maximum wages, but no "skin-in-the-game," as they say!    ...

     I have a bad habit of classifying scientists and researchers as one and the same. I do not apologize for doing this or even believe that they're not truly one and the same! For doesn't science only consider using information gained by observations that can be repeatable, not just by the person or persons that made the first observation but by others as well?     Let's start with, what the carbon dioxide level was estimated to be at, around the 1850s, 280 parts per million! Now in 2023, that number has risen to approximately 415 parts per million, for a change of around 135 parts per million or around a 33% increase in 173 years!        I live in Nebraska, in the middle of the United States of America. Growing up on a farm with two parents and 10 brothers and sisters. So I was quite aware of the erosion of soils from our fields after every heavy rain. My Father had the land terraced and created grass waterways to slow down the runoff and slow down erosion. but we could never stop it completely! So not only did we lose a little soil from each time it rained we also had water runoff that took that soil (always topsoil "the most fertile soil") and lost that water which, in Southeast Nebraska, was always in short supply! It took China around 17 years and around 125,000 people to construct the largest dam ever built "the Three Gorges Dam"! Yet simply by using the world's refugees, which now number around 80,000,000 and growing, we try our best to feed, shelter, and protecting them, with a minimum cost, yet still quite substantial money outlay over time with no end in sight!      How can we understand what the planet is facing if we can not even use the current atmospheres of the other planets in the solar system as a starting point? There are three things that affect a planet's atmospheric content, 1) the gravity of the planet in question, 2) the amount of solar winds from the Sun that can continually remove part of the atmosphere, 3) and by far, whether there is or has been abundant life on the planet in question.
